Somerset Small Business Recognised at Shining Star Awards

Small businesses across Somerset have been honoured for their achievements at this year’s Shining Stars Awards.

Now in their eighth year, the awards celebrate exceptional business owners who demonstrate resilience and success, often while balancing family life.

The awards are organised by Businesswomen UnLtd, a national networking group supporting small businesses and sole traders with advice, opportunities and growth.

This year, 12 winners from Somerset were recognised, with the winners announced at a celebratory lunch held at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club, near Chard, on Wednesday, July 1.

Debbie Gilbert, founder of Businesswomen UnLtd and author of The Successful Mumpreneur, said: "The Shining Star awards are all about raising the profile of businesses who run small businesses but provide excellent service and support other businesses.

"The current market conditions are challenging, but all these businesses proved how they have powered through and are trading successfully."

This year’s Somerset Shining Star of the Year award was presented to Taunton business owner Anita Greenslade from House of Admin.

Ms Greenslade said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition.

"House of Admin exists to support women in business who might otherwise be overlooked without strong and consistent marketing."

Independent judges unanimously selected Ms Greenslade for the top award, in recognition of the exceptional impact she has made in such a short space of time.

In a statement, the judges said: "Having built House of Admin from a part-time venture into a thriving full-time business, she has demonstrated outstanding determination, professionalism and a genuine commitment to empowering other women in business.

"Anita doesn't simply deliver websites and marketing support; she builds confidence, provides reassurance, and equips her clients with the skills to grow sustainably.

"Her impressive client retention, commitment to continuous learning and authentic focus on collaboration are matched by the generosity she shows, where she consistently goes above and beyond to support, encourage and connect with others.

"Anita embodies everything the Shining Star award represents – someone who not only excels in their own business but also lifts those around them.

"We have no doubt that this is just the beginning of an exciting journey, and she is a truly deserving recipient of this year's Shining Star of the Year award."
